Construction is our primary focus

Plan bonding alongside
the work you’re pursuing.

A bid bond, performance bond and payment bond serve different purposes. We start with the owner’s requirements, your project experience and current workload—not just the requested dollar amount.

01At bid

Bid bonds

Address the bidder’s obligation to enter the contract and furnish the required bonds if awarded, subject to the bid bond’s terms.

02At award

Performance & payment bonds

Performance bonds address completion of the bonded contract. Payment bonds address payment to eligible subcontractors, laborers and suppliers under the bond terms.

03Beyond completion

Maintenance & warranty bonds

Address specified workmanship or material obligations during a defined maintenance period. The required wording and duration matter.

Beyond the construction contract

Different requirements.
Different bond forms.

Explore these categories for a review of eligibility and available markets. Placement is subject to licensing, market access and underwriting; listing a bond type is not a promise of issuance.

Business requirements

License & permit bonds

For obligations tied to a license, permit or registration. Examples include contractor license, motor vehicle dealer and certain permit bonds where required. The jurisdiction sets the obligation; a bond does not replace the license itself.

Development & supply

Subdivision, site improvement & supply bonds

Review obligations for public improvements such as roads, drainage and utilities, or for supplying specified materials. Share the development agreement or supply contract and required bond form.

Transportation

Freight broker & forwarder bonds

BMC-84 surety bonds address applicable FMCSA financial-security requirements for property brokers and freight forwarders. The required security is $75,000; a BMC-85 trust fund is a different alternative, not a bond. This is not truck liability or cargo insurance, and it is not a blanket requirement for every trucking company.

Courts & fiduciaries

Court, probate & fiduciary bonds

Review eligible executor, administrator, guardian and conservator obligations, along with judicial bonds such as appeal or release-of-lien bonds. Provide the court’s requirements; legal advice and court filings remain with your attorney. This category does not include bail bonds.

Other obligations

Public official & other commercial bonds

Public official, notary where required, utility, customs, lost instrument and other commercial obligations can be submitted for review. Requirements vary by jurisdiction and bond form; not every category is required or available in every state.

Dishonesty protection

Fidelity, employee dishonesty & ERISA bonds

Fidelity protection addresses specified fraud or dishonesty losses, rather than a contractor’s performance obligation. Review employee dishonesty and business-service exposures. ERISA fidelity bonds protect covered employee benefit plans against fraud or dishonesty by people handling plan assets; they are distinct from fiduciary liability insurance.

Understand the obligation

A surety bond is not
a liability policy.

A surety bond involves the principal who owes an obligation, the obligee who requires the bond, and the surety that backs it. The bond protects the obligee according to its terms.

The principal and other indemnitors may have to reimburse the surety for covered payments and expenses under an indemnity agreement. Financial review, collateral or personal indemnity may be required. Fidelity coverage works differently and must be reviewed on its own terms.

The right details.

Start your bond review
  1. Identify the parties. Legal applicant name and the organization or court requiring the bond.
  2. Define the obligation. Bond type, amount, state, deadline and required wording.
  3. Prepare the supporting details. Contract value, project experience and work in progress for construction; license, court or plan information for other requests.

The initial form does not issue a bond, confirm a rate or authorize a credit check. We will arrange an appropriate method for any financial statements, signed indemnity or sensitive documents needed later. Do not send sensitive documents through ordinary email.
